Volvo XC40 Recharge is launched in India in the luxury electric vehicle segment and it comes in direct competition with the recently launched Kia EV6. The XC40 can be booked online from the company website with a booking amount of ₹50,000 and a price tag of ₹55,90,000 (ex-Showroom). According to the company website, the TCS (Tax collected at source) at the time of purchase is around ₹55,900 and an insurance cost of ₹292,268. The XC40 Recharge under the C-segment Subcompact SUV is built on the same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform that underpins the regular gasoline-powered XC40 and is Volvo’s first foray into the electric vehicle segment in India.

The 2022 XC40 Electric comes with 3 years comprehensive car warranty, 3 years Volvo Service Package, 3 years of Roadside Assistance, 8 years or 1,60,000 km battery warranty, 4 years of free subscription to digital services, and 1 wall box AC charger (11 kW).
Powertrain
The XC40 Recharge features a 78kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is powered by a Twin motor setup each for the front and back that delivers a combined output of 402 bhp and a whopping 660 Nm peak torque.
The AWD configured electric SUV can sprint from 0-100 kph in 4.9 seconds while its top speed is 180 kmph.
Volvo claims that it can deliver a range of 418 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle).
Moreover, the luxury electric SUV can be charged from 10-80 per cent in just 28 minutes with the help of a 150kW DC fast charger while a standard 3-phase 11kW AC charger takes around 7 to 8 hours to fully charge or around 50 to 60 km range per hour.
Exterior
The XC40 Recharge comes with 5 body colour options which include Crystal White, Fjord Blue, Onyx Black, Sage Green and Thunder grey. The charging point is positioned behind the fuel filler cap in XC40 Recharge and the vehicle sits on 19” 5-Double spoke black diamond cut alloys. It also features a dual-tone paint job, LED headlamps, black cladding on the front and rear bumpers, and vertically positioned LED taillights.
Interior

The Interior colour theme remains dark with primary shades of charcoal and black. XC40 Recharge comes with a new 9-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system, along with OTA updates and includes cabin features like Built-in Google Assist, parking assistance, 360-degree camera, keyless entry, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, fully digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon Premium Sound system and 4 USB Type-C ports. The Volvo XC40 will have a seating capacity of 5 people.
Safety

XC40 Recharge comes with a 360-degree surround-view camera, multiple airbags, emergency braking assistance, electronic parking brake, cross-traffic alert, lane assist system, and ongoing lane mitigation for safety.
