A "Wordclock" with magnets - Open Electronics

[ad_1]

Do you know what a “Wordclock” is? A Wordclock is a clock that displays the time by lighting up certain letters, contained in a matrix, in order to write the words corresponding to the current time. In this project we will see an alternative Wordclock using 3D printed letters, which will move through a magnetic system.

Each letter has a magnet on the back, which will be attracted or repelled by the magnetic field generated by a coil built on PCB. These coils are controlled, through several DRV8912 multi-channel H bridges, with an ESP8266. The latter will allow, through WiFi communication, to be able to change the time using a smartphone.
