In an extremely unfortunate incident, eight people were killed as smoke emanating from a fire at an e-2W showroom on the ground floor spread to hotel floors above, choking people to death, News Agency ANI reported this morning. The showroom ‘Ruby Electric Vehicles’ caught fire late Monday night. NDTV report said that at least 25 people were staying at the hotel. Many jumped from the building and were rescued by locals.
PM Narendra Modi tweeted expressing his condolences to the bereaved families. “Saddened by the loss of lives due to a fire in Secunderabad, Telangana. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the next of kin of each deceased. Rs 50,000 would be paid to the injured,” said the Prime Minister.
Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mehmood Ali said a probe has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the fire. We will keep updating this space as more details emerge.
